In plain terms

  • Covered by your province’s consumer protection law. Those rights are automatic, they’re free, and nothing on this page reduces them.
  • They apply whatever we write here — and Quebec has its own regime, distinct from the rest of the country.
  • Pool safety rules apply where you live, and they cover portable pools. We tell you before you buy.

1. Your rights under your province’s consumer protection law

When you buy a Hippool as a consumer in Canada, the consumer protection law of your province or territory applies to that purchase — automatically. You don’t register for those rights, you don’t pay for them, and nothing we write anywhere, on this page or in our Terms, takes them away or makes them smaller.

Three things are true across the country, and we can say them plainly:

  • Which law covers you depends on where you are, not on where we are. Canada regulates consumer protection province by province.
  • Quebec has a distinct regime. If you’re in Quebec, that’s the one that covers you — and this page, like our contract, exists in French: Garantie.
  • Your rights are not something you sign away, and we don’t ask you to.

How long do they last, and what remedy do you get? That’s exactly the part that varies by province, and we’re not going to guess it for you.

If something’s wrong, start with us. Whatever your province gives you, the practical route is the same: tell us what happened, send a photo, and we sort it out (§2.4).

2. Pool safety in Canada

Pool safety rules apply to this pool, and they cover portable and inflatable pools. They are provincial in Quebec and municipal across much of the rest of the country.

  • The legal duty sits with the pool owner — that’s you — not with us. We’re telling you before you buy so it’s never a surprise after.
  • Your municipality issues the permit, and it can be stricter than the provincial rule. Check with it before you buy, and certainly before you install.
  • Supervision is the thing that actually saves a child. Active adult supervision at all times, children within arm’s reach, never left unsupervised in or around the pool.

3. If you need us

Email us: contact@hippool.com — we answer within 48 hours, Monday to Friday.

Write to us: BME Consulting (Hippool), 113 rue Marietton, 69009 Lyon, France.

If we can’t resolve things together, you can contact the consumer protection office of your province or territory, and, for misleading business practices, the Competition Bureau (federal).
