Cookie Policy
Last updated: 26 August 2026 · Version: 1.0
In plain terms
- Some cookies keep the shop running — your cart, your session, secure payment. Those we can’t switch off.
- Everything else is off, and stays off unless you turn it on. That includes anything that could identify you, work out where you are, or build a profile of you.
- And if you do want some of it on, we tell you exactly how — the categories are right there on the banner, and in the footer of every page.
- Refusing is exactly as easy as accepting, and you can change your mind about this any time.
- Nothing you refuse gets loaded anyway. That’s not a slogan, it’s how the banner is built.
1. Why you’re seeing a cookie choice at all
Cookies are small files a website puts on your device so it can remember things — that you have a pool in your cart, that you’re signed in, that you already made a choice about this banner. Other technologies do a similar job (pixels, local storage, SDKs); when we say “cookies” on this page, we mean all of them.
- If you’re in Quebec, the province’s private-sector privacy law — the one everyone calls Law 25 — says that anything on a website able to identify you, work out where you are, or build a profile of you must be switched off by default, that your consent has to be asked for each purpose separately, and that we have to tell you how to switch those functions on if you want them. That’s what this page and the banner do.
- European law applies too, because the company behind Hippool is registered in France. It says that anything stored on or read from your device beyond what’s strictly necessary requires your consent first, and that withdrawing consent has to be as easy as giving it.
Canada’s federal privacy law also covers information that crosses provincial or national borders — and ours does, from the first order.
So we ask. And we’d ask anyway — a shop that quietly tracks you and tells you afterwards isn’t one we’d want to buy from either.
2. The four kinds of cookies on this site
1 — Strictly necessary. The shop doesn’t work without them: keeping items in your cart, keeping you signed in, processing your payment securely, spotting fraud, remembering the country and language you chose, and remembering the cookie choice you just made. These are always on — switching them off would mean switching the shop off.
2 — Preferences. Small conveniences: remembering a setting so you don’t have to set it twice. Off unless you turn it on.
3 — Analytics. How many people visited, which pages they read, where they got stuck, whether the size guide actually helps. We look at this in aggregate to make the site better — never to build a profile of you personally. Off unless you turn it on.
4 — Advertising. Cookies and pixels that let us show you a Hippool ad elsewhere, or measure whether an ad worked. Off unless you turn it on.
On knowing where you are. We don’t work out your location to decide which version of the shop to show you. You choose your country and language yourself, in the selector at the bottom of every page, and the only thing we remember is the choice you made. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
3. The full list
Measured on the shop on 26 August 2026, before and after consent — not written from memory. Every one of these is set by Shopify, which hosts the shop. No advertising cookie is set, and no third-party analytics tool is installed.
- — Who sets it: Shopify · What it does: Keeps your session and the shop secure. · Category: Strictly necessary · How long it lasts: 1 year
- — Who sets it: Shopify · What it does: Remembers what is in your cart. · Category: Strictly necessary · How long it lasts: 3 months

- — Who sets it: Shopify · What it does: Remembers your country and language. · Category: Preferences · How long it lasts: 1 year
- — Who sets it: Shopify · What it does: Counts one visit, so we know which pages are useful. · Category: Analytics · How long it lasts: 30 minutes
- — Who sets it: Shopify · What it does: Tells a returning visit from a new one. Does not identify you to us. · Category: Analytics · How long it lasts: 1 year
- — Who sets it: Shopify · What it does: Groups the two above into one measurement. · Category: Analytics · How long it lasts: 1 year
The third parties involved, and their own policies: Shopify hosts and runs the shop · Shopify Payments and PayPal come in when you pay. We don’t sell what these cookies tell us, and we don’t hand them to anyone.
4. The choice we show you
The first time you visit, you get this — and nothing else in the same box:
Some cookies keep the shop running — your cart, your session, secure payment. Those we can’t switch off. Everything else is off, and stays off unless you turn it on right here. That includes anything that could identify you, work out where you are, or build a profile of you.
☐ Preferences ☐ Analytics ☐ Advertising (three toggles, all off · “Strictly necessary — always on”, not toggleable)
[ Refuse all ] [ Save my choices ] (equal weight) · What each one does →
Every category is off when you arrive. You turn on what you’re comfortable with, and nothing else runs.
5. Changing your choice, or turning something on
[Cookie settings] — the same link sits in the footer of every page on this site.
Click it and the banner comes back, with your current choices shown. Turning something on takes exactly one click. Turning it back off takes exactly one click too — no maze, no “are you sure”, no button hidden in grey.
Withdrawing a consent you gave is as easy as giving it. Nothing stops working if you do — you just stop being measured.
You can also clear cookies in your browser — every browser has a setting for it, usually under Privacy. If you do that, you’ll be asked for your choice again next time you visit, and the shop will forget things like your cart.
6. What this has to do with your personal information
Some of what cookies collect can be linked back to you — an order, an account, a device you use every day. How we handle that, what allows us to, who we share it with, where it goes, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do about it is set out in full in our Privacy Policy.
Short version: three sets of privacy law protect you here, not one Quebec’s, Canada’s federal law, and European law, because the company behind Hippool is registered in France. We don’t sell your information. You can ask us for a copy, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, take it elsewhere — and we answer within a month.
Where your information goes: outside Quebec, and outside Europe. Explained in full, including what we haven’t finished, in the Privacy Policy.
7. If something here doesn’t add up
A cookie here you don’t recognize, or a tracker running before you agreed? Tell our Privacy Officer (responsable de la protection des renseignements personnels): Steven Robert, contact@hippool.com. If we don’t sort it out properly, you can complain to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec, to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to the French data protection authority, the CNIL — the company behind Hippool is registered in France.
We’d rather hear it from you than not hear it at all, and we’ll fix it and update this page. Contact details for all three regulators are in our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to this policy
We update this page whenever the list changes — a new app, a new tool, a tool removed. The date at the top tells you when it was last checked. If the change is significant, we’ll tell you — we don’t rewrite the rules quietly.
9. Language / Langue
