Cookie Policy
Last updated: 26 August 2026 · Version: 1.0
In plain terms
- Some cookies keep the shop working. Cart, session, security, your currency. Those stay on.
- Everything else runs only with your consent. Analytics, advertising, preferences.
- Refusing is as easy as accepting, and you can withdraw your consent at any time.
- Questions? Our Information Officer answers them. Here →
1. Why we ask
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device so it can remember things — what’s in your cart, that you’re signed in, that you already answered this banner. Pixels, local storage and similar tools do the same job, and this page covers them too.
- Under South African law, we need a justification to process your personal information. For the cookies that make the shop work, that justification is our contract with you — you can’t buy a pool from a shop that can’t remember your cart. For everything else, the justification is your consent.
- Under European law — which applies because the company behind Hippool is registered in France — anything stored on or read from your device beyond what’s strictly necessary requires your consent first, and the consent has to be freely given, specific, informed and as easy to withdraw as it was to give.
So we ask, and you can take it back whenever you like.
2. The four kinds of cookies on this site
1 — Strictly necessary. Cart, sign-in, secure payment, fraud prevention, remembering that you’re browsing our South African store in US dollars (USD), and remembering your cookie choice. Always on.
2 — Preferences. Small conveniences so you don’t set the same thing twice. Only with your consent.
3 — Analytics. Aggregate numbers that tell us what works on the site and what doesn’t. Never a personal profile of you. Only with your consent.
4 — Advertising. Cookies and pixels that let us show you a Hippool ad elsewhere, or measure whether one worked. Only with your consent.
3. The full list
Measured on the shop on 26 August 2026, before and after consent — not written from memory. Every one of these is set by Shopify, which hosts the shop. No advertising cookie is set, and no third-party analytics tool is installed.

The third parties involved, and their own policies: Shopify hosts and runs the shop · Shopify Payments and PayPal come in when you pay. We don’t sell what these cookies tell us, and we don’t hand them to anyone.
4. Changing your choice, or taking your consent back
[Manage cookies] — in the footer of every page.
Click it and the banner comes back with your current choices. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and withdrawing it doesn’t cost you anything: the shop keeps working, you just stop being measured.
You can also clear cookies in your browser. If you do, we’ll ask again next visit, and the shop will forget your cart.
5. Your rights over what we collect
Some of what these cookies collect is personal information about you. You have rights over it under two laws at once.
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, you can ask us what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to processing we base on our legitimate interests, and withdraw consent at any time.
Under European data protection law you can do all of that, and ask us to restrict what we do with it while a dispute is sorted out, and ask for a machine-readable copy to take elsewhere. We answer within a month, and it costs you nothing.
How to do all of that, and who to contact: Privacy Policy.
Where your information goes: outside South Africa — to us in France, and on to our providers — explained in full, with the legal basis and the safeguards, in the Privacy Policy.
6. If something here doesn’t add up
Found a cookie that isn’t listed, or a tracker running before you agreed? Tell our Information Officer, Steven Robert — contact@hippool.com. We’ll fix it and update this page.
If we don’t deal with it properly, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa), or to the French data protection authority, the CNIL — contact details for both in the Privacy Policy.
7. Changes to this policy
We update this page whenever the list changes. The date at the top tells you when it was last checked.
